How to add citations to a college presentation

Citations are where student presentations quietly fall apart. A statistic with no source, a claim lifted from a journal without a year, and a reference slide that lists three books none of which are cited anywhere — all three are common, and all three are easy to fix once you know what the examiner is looking for.

Indian college submissions usually run through a plagiarism check, and the viva will ask you where a figure came from. Citing at the point of use — the year and author in small text on the slide, or a bracketed number — takes seconds and answers both problems at once. Statistics are the priority: a specific number is the easiest thing for an examiner to check and the easiest thing to get wrong.

Paste your slides above and this checker flags vague claims, unsourced statistics and missing references, and tells you which slide each one is on.

Worth knowing

  • Cite the year and author for every statistic, on the slide itself.
  • Use one reference style throughout. Mixing APA and numbered references looks careless.
  • A claims without a source is a claim an examiner is entitled to doubt.
  • Put a references slide at the end, and only list sources you actually used.
